Scotland has seen a 24% increase in new-build homes over the past quarter – a major increase led primarily by the private sector.

The increase is the highest increase in 12 years, and Scotland’s Chief Statistician and Data Officer Roger Halliday shared details for the final quarter of 2019: [emaillocker id=”71749″]

  • Work on 24,873 new build homes started – an increase of 4,876 on the previous year
  • 34% increase in private sector led developments and 22% increase in local authority projects. There was a slight decrease of 0.3% on housing association projects.
  • Number of new-build homes completed increased to 21,805 – a 16% increase on the previous year and largest in 12 years.
