Far East Consortium – Tom Fenton, Project Director

As the master developers behind the world class £4bn Victoria North project in Manchester, Far East Consortium join the event to talk about the changing face of what people expect from greener places and how they are planning to create one of the North’s most healthy and sustainable developments at the heart of the UK’s third biggest city. Over the course of 15 years 15,000 new homes will be delivered on the Northern gateway site as well as 2000 sq ft of neighbourhood focused commercial retail.

Hammerson plc – Louise Ellison, Group Head of Sustainability

Louise joined Hammerson as the Group Head of Sustainability in September 2013 having previously help similar roles at M&G Real Estate and Quintain and is responsible for developing Hammerson’s Positive Places initiative and ensuring that its shopping centres and developments continue to meet challenging sustainability targets. Louise will join the session to discuss the proactive sustainability work Hammerson are implementing in their considerable portfolio and what the future will hold for their shopping centres and other developments.

GE Hitachi – David Powell, Vice President UK Sales GE Hitachi Nuclear Power Plants

Thakeham Group are about to launch their 2020-2025 sustainability strategy, as well as moving into the Thames Valley Region with big development plans. Josie will share insight into some case studies about their three big zero carbon commitments, as well as their development plans for the region and how Thakeham Group are driving sustainability moving forwards.

Leeds City Council – Martin Elliot, Head of Strategic Planning

Leeds City Council is to invest £100m on measures to help tenants save money and cut carbon by improving energy efficiency over the next five years. The council are also investing in £25.3 million to help reduce carbon emissions from 38 publicly owned buildings in the city, slashing the city’s carbon emissions by nearly 4,000 tonnes in the process. These investments will support the council’s commitment to reduce the city’s direct emissions to net-zero by 2030 and will also support local ‘green’ jobs in industries carrying out the improvements. Martin will give more intel on these schemes as well as the council’s future sustainable regeneration and transportation plans.

Enterprise M3 LEP – Kathy Slack, Chief Executive

Using their local industrial strategy Enterprise M3 are aiming to be the bastion of clean growth in the South East by pulling together business, education institutions, developers and investors to create green jobs, developments and opportunity. Kathy joins the panel to talk about how LEP’s can contribute massively to building zero carbon Britain

MEPC – Ross Fittall, Senior Development Manager

Developer MEPC is advancing phase 2 of the £700m Paradise Birmingham scheme which includes a 17 storey hotel and a 10 storey office building that features a sky bar for panoramic views of the city. They are an important component of Birmingham city centre regeneration and Ross joins the conference to talk about this scheme and MEPC’s other ambitions across the Midlands.

Faithful+Gould – Stuart Rogers, Director

Stuart Rogers is a Director for Faithful+Gould, leading Faithful+Gould’s Manchester Office and Property Sector in the North. Stuart represents Faithful+Gould on the businesses Global Net Zero Carbon Forum, as well as taking a lead role in driving the Sustainability agenda in the UK business. He is a Board Member for LandAid – a charity that is working to end youth homelessness – which is a particular problem in Manchester and Liverpool, where rents continue to rise sharply for young people. He believes that sustainable community regeneration is much more than energy and carbon.

Stuart leads projects for a number of high profile clients in the North including Manchester Airport City, Muse, U+I/Mayfield Partnership, Manchester City Council, Ask Real Estate and One Manchester Housing Association. He is passionate about the UK property sector. He believes in using regeneration projects to make a difference to local communities, through creating employment opportunities, skills development and improving quality of life.

Natasha is a Commercial Manager at Moixa, the UK’s leading residential energy storage company.
Natasha started her career at Gartner, spending 5 years working with technology systems & their applications. Her passion for renewable energy led her into the clean tech space in 2018 where she built the commercial team at Zeigo, a platform for corporate sourcing renewable energy.

Lee Marshall, managing director at Viridis, has a wealth of experience in sustainable design engineering, building services installation, and renewable technologies across a range of sectors.

He is passionate about creating innovative low-cost, low-energy building services, firmly believing that it doesn’t have to cost the earth to save the earth. Over the years this approach has turned heads, built a loyal client base, and allowed Viridis to grow a diverse and equally passionate team.

Lee has delivered guest lectures at various universities, is a BREEAM assessor and runs training courses for the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.

Alongside a love for the built environment, Lee enjoys rugby, spending time with his family and campanology (that’s bell-ringing to you and me).

With over 20 years of experience in designing, developing and managing products across multiple sectors, John heads up Strategy and Product at HBS New Energies with the ambition to drive through Net Zero solutions for the housing sector. John is passionate about the Energy Transition and puts the customer at the heart of everything he does.

Cundall – Simon Wyatt, Sustainability Partner

Simon leads Cundall’s building physics, health, wellbeing and sustainability team. He specialises in sustainable strategy and governance and is a member of the UK Green Building Council’s Members Advisory Committee, the British Council for Offices (BCO) Environment, Social & Governance Group (ESG) and chair of the CIBSE Knowledge Generation Panel. Simon has authored numerous papers and presents at national and international conferences on net zero carbon, whole life carbon, health and wellbeing and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Simon regularly contributes articles and commentary to national and trade media on net zero carbon building design, green finance and industry progress toward zero. He currently writes a regular column about net zero for Building magazine’s ‘Countdown to COP26’ series.
