Built Environment Networking 1

The construction and property industry is in a fascinating place – with some major investment taking place across the UK, and the impacts of Brexit and Covid-19 now clearer than 12 months ago.

Events are the best place to stay up to date – hearing from influential figures across the industry to hear about their challenges, the opportunities they’re seeing and the sharing of best practice and insight you’ll find out nowhere else. But physical events in 2020 were almost none-existent. In 2021 they’re likely to return, but online events will also continue – with benefits including less travel, reduced costs and a reduced carbon footprint just some of the benefits of a virtual event. Below we highlight some of the must attend events at the beginning of 2021…

5. Residential Green Retrofit Conference – 4th March 2021 (Online Event)

The UK has the least energy efficient housing stock in Europe. This leads to high energy bills and fuel poverty rates, as well as an unacceptable level of carbon emission. The UK government has an ambition to retrofit all homes to an energy efficient standard by 2035; currently only 29 per cent of homes meet this standard and so a massive programme of green retrofitting must take place over the next 15 years.

Research has shown that the cost of retrofitting all housing in the UK to zero carbon standards could top £100 billion and require almost half a million tradespeople. This event will gather public sector decision makers, developers, major social housing providers and thought leaders to discuss what the UK must do to reach this ambitious target and share details of the projects that will contribute towards it. Some of those involved in the event include:
