Here’s an overview of the confirmed speakers: Peel L&P – Richard Mawdsley, Wirral Waters Director Richard is currently leading the delivery of Peel L&P’s Wirral Waters project, one of the largest, private sector led developments in the UK. The Wirral Waters scheme is a £4.5 billion scheme that will deliver a mixed-use, high density, and highly sustainable project that will boost the regional economy over the coming years. The scheme will feature a wide array of subsidiary developments, including the Legacy Project, the Wirral Street Car and Egerton Village. Approximately 13,500 homes and 20,000 jobs are set to be delivered under the scheme over the next quarter of a century. UK Parliament – Kim Johnson MP, Labour MP Kim Johnson has been the Labour MP for Liverpool Riverside since the 2019 general election. She is the first BAME member of parliament in Liverpool City Region and an active member of the Riverside constituency. As a member of the Women and Equalities committee, Kim is a dedicated public servant who has great ambitions for the future of Liverpool City Region and the wider north economy as a whole. University of Liverpool – Professor Anthony Hollander, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Impact The University of Liverpool is a key component in attracting, producing and retaining a skilled workforce across the region. The educational institution provides over 400 undergraduate and postgraduate courses and provides high-quality living and learning services for over 22,000 students on campus. The university is looking to expand via its Masterplan Estate Strategy 2026+ featuring a £1bn vision to develop its estates over the next 15 years and beyond. Liverpool City Council – Cllr Sarah Doyle, Cabinet Member for Development and Economy Liverpool City Council have set out their vision and priorities in their most recent Council Plan, that aims to enable a thriving and sustainable city for residents and visitors over the coming years. As a part of the plan, over £333m has been forecast to be invested over the next five years. This comes in addition to a wide array of regeneration schemes across the city including the £5bn Liverpool Waters masterplan. Cllr Sarah Doyle is the current Development and Economy portfolio holder, and she joins us to discuss the city council’s plans to continue Liverpool’s growth. Halton Borough Council – David Parr, Chief Executive In an attempt to maximise the economic benefits felt by the Mersey Gateway, Halton Borough Council has developed a ten-year physical regeneration plan, Mersey Gateway Regeneration Plus. The plan outlines eight areas within the borough of Halton, where the new bridge and reconfigured road network have the most potential to open up land for new developments and create an opportunity for economic growth. The Astmoor Industrial estate is an example of one of the key impact areas, due to its connectivity and accessibility, it can act as a catalyst for new investment and to aid in modernising the estate over the next few years. Torus Group – Kate Ellison, Director of Growth and Partnerships Torus Group is a growth and regeneration group with a commitment to creating, sustainable, inclusive and thriving communities via investment, development and regeneration. The group is a combination of high-performing North West social landlords including Golden Gates Housing Trust, Liverpool Mutual Homes and Helena Partnerships. With a significant strength of 40,000 homes, the housing developer is looking to expand through multiple ongoing developments such as the £24m Huyton housing development, a £4.5m Broomsfields scheme for over-55s, as well as the recently completed RIC award-winning £25m Maples development. Cobalt Housing – Dave Woods, Director of Operations Cobalt Housing is a registered housing association based in North Liverpool that provides affordable homes and quality places to live. The housing association manages and maintains around 6000 homes in the Fazakerley and Sparrow hall, Croxteth, and Norris Green areas of North Liverpool. Homes England awarded the housing association with a £2.3 million housing grant to deliver 57 new homes at the Altbridge Park site in Croxteth. Cobalt Housing are also working with Liverpool City Council to help deliver 1,200 homes in Croxteth in a new state-of-the-art, zero carbon housing project on the Stonebridge Cross site. Cityheart – Lauren Gavaghan, Development Manager Cityheart is a development company that works with the public sector to deliver and manage regeneration projects throughout the UK. Halton Borough Council appointed Cityheart as its development partner to deliver a new £60m housing scheme in the Halebank area of Widnes. The scheme will see 20-acres of former industrial land converted into a much-needed residential district that will act as a catalyst for further investment in the area. Muse – Mike Horner, Regional Director With more than £3.5bn pipeline in projects across the North including Salford and Stockport, Muse are a key driver of responsible growth and development in the region. Sustainability is one of their core focuses and the £1bn Salford Central scheme, and the £2.5bn Salford Crescent Masterplan they are bringing forward alongside the English Cities Fund are designed to be exemplars of sustainable development. Muse are also heavily involved with the ongoing transformation of Stockport, partnering with the council on the place-changing £145m Stockport Exchange scheme. Mike will discuss how their developments are contributing towards a sustainable and inclusive Greater Manchester and Northern Powerhouse. P4 Planning – Rhian Thomas, Director Rhian is a Director at P4 Planning and is currently advising the University of Liverpool in delivering key components of its estate strategy masterplan. P4 Planning is an independent planning consultancy that seeks to provide a breath of fresh air as it helps navigate the complex town planning system, expertly delivering client objectives. Thinking strategically and crafting planning strategies that deliver results, P4 works with developers, investors and landowners to help make better places. Knowsley Council – Tony Clark, Assistant Executive Director Development and Infrastructure Knowsley Council have recently entered into a joint venture with Genr8 Kajima for Huyton’s Town centre redevelopment. The Council has ambitious plans for Huyton and its progressing it’s 10-year development plan, including the creation of a commercial district, that will contain the Council’s new HQ, a hotel, commercial and residential accommodation; as well as a village green and significant improvements to the high street and station gateway area. The plan outlines the potential for approximately 1,700 jobs and a £50.8m boost to the local economy. Wirral Council – Cathy Wignall, Regeneration Delivery Lead Wirral is undergoing major regeneration and redevelopment over the coming years, with the Wirral Peninsula set to deliver a large scale £4.5 billion project. The council also have made Birkenhead a priority, launching a 20 year framework, setting out a vision for a sustainable garden community on the Mersey waterfront. Covering an area of over 270 hectares, the project will feature eight major developments that aim to create 21,000 new homes and 6,000 jobs. Faithful+Gould – Sue Rugg, Regional Director Sue is a Chartered Surveyor with over 20 years’ experience working within the housing and extra care sector. Sue leads a national team delivering cost and commercial management, employer’s agent, project management and health and safety services and has extensive experience with national frameworks driving efficiencies through the procurement of the right consultant team and contractors for clients, delivery of Modern Methods of Construction and most importantly building communities. Pat joins the event to update the audience on progress across Stanley Dock and talk about their wider involvement in regeneration in Liverpool. GRAHAM – Peter Reavey, Regional Director, Building Peter Reavey is Regional Director for the GRAHAM Building division. He is a specialist in the delivery of complex large scale projects including Build to Rent and Healthcare. Notably, Peter was central to the successful completion of The Copper House – a 383 unit BTR scheme in central Liverpool that is a recent landmark addition to the iconic waterfront of the city.
