James has worked at Landid for over 5 years.  He works with Brockton on the Thames Valley portfolio and was involved in the recent purchase of the former Coca Cola headquarters in Hammersmith. Recent successes have been the leasing of space to tenants such as Rio Tinto, The Bullitt Group and H&M at One Valpy and subsequent sale of the building to Standard Life. Dr David Gillham, Executive Director Thames Valley Science Park; University of Reading

Reading Development Plans - David GillhamWith a background in R&D and business development, my role at the University is in leading a number of activities aimed at developing relationships between the University and business community, knowledge transfer and also in the running of a subsidiary business incubation operation for innovative and technology orientated companies that are based on the University campus.  The University are now developing a new Science Park to further develop the community of companies that are associated with the University on a green field site to the south of Reading and I am the Executive Director responsible for establishing that new business.

Aside from core university business I have been a non-exec Director of a number of companies- mainly University spin outs and am also an executive member of the Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership with a key interest in innovation and early stage technology stage companies.

Prior to joining the University in 2006 I spent 20 years with global life sciences companies in R&D and business development roles both in the UK and overseas.

Nigel Howe, Chief Executive Officer; Reading Football Club

Reading Development Plans 2016 - Nigel HoweHaving graduated from Aston in 1981 with BSc in Building Management, Nigel Howe has gone on to be the longest serving CEO of a football club with Reading FC, which he joined in 1995.Prior to this, Nigel worked in property development and asset management with his own company –   what Nigel describes as the soft end of property.  Nigel was contracted to build a new stadium for Reading FC. The original stadium at Elm Park had a capacity of 11,000, and the aim was to build a 25,000 seater stadium.  It was a year later that Reading FC Chairman, Sir John Madejski asked Nigel to become CEO of Reading FC. Over the years, Nigel has been involved in all of Sir John’s worldwide empire including building up a property portfolio that has gone on to be worth several hundreds of millions of pounds.

Nigel describes life as ‘very busy…with five children and then match day is just like a working day… In football I’m there in my role – I’m meeting so many different people involved in the club – it’s a busy life, I’m not complaining, I love it’.
