Here’s an overview of the confirmed speakers: Brighton & Hove City Council – Geoff Raw, Chief Executive One of the UK’s most active councils on the development front, Brighton and Hove City council are involved as lead developers or enablers in 9 major schemes. As part of this event Geoff will set out the council’s regeneration ambitions, in particular highlighting equitable growth plans through their drive towards net zero, the delivery of 1000 new homes in the city, reimagining their city centre and boosting tourism through development. Aster Group – Jane Gallifent, Director of Development & Sales The Aster Group has a build programme delivering an average of 1000 affordable homes per year over the South East and West of England. The group’s market sale delivery has also been strengthened through its joint venture partnership with the Vistry Group. Jane will give more intel on Aster’s future plans to increase their land portfolio and their latest schemes across the South Coast. MODA Living – James R Blakey, Planning Director Moda are to develop a massive £260m private rental and later living scheme in Hove, their first on the South Coast. Of the total planned homes, 564 will be for private rent and 260 for later living. There will also be 50,000 sq ft of office and co-working space to foster emerging businesses/SMEs, five communal roof terraces and several open spaces. James will give more intel on this scheme and how to get involved. YG Developments Limited – Kristi Roger, Director YG Developments latest project in Devon will be an ‘enabling development’ to the Torquay Pavilion, a Grade 2 listed building. Set to consist of around 50 apartments, and 1000sqm of commercial space the £16m building will commence construction in 2022. Kristi will join the session to give more intel on the scheme as well as looking forward to future developments in the pipeline in the South West of England. Oxfordshire County Council – Bill Cotton, Corporate Director for Environment and Place Oxfordshire County Council are working alongside the other five local authorities in the county to deliver the Oxfordshire Plan 2050 as part of the £215m Housing & Growth Deal which will help deliver greatly needed new homes – including affordable and social housing, and infrastructure to the county while helping to tackle climate change. The plan will identify key areas for sustainable growth with associated housing / employment numbers, while considering how to help tackle climate change, improve water efficiency and mitigate flood risk. Bill will discuss this plan and how the council are working to enable sustainable and inclusive growth across the county. Taylor Wimpey – Sarah Pasco, Managing Director (Southern Counties) Taylor Wimpey have extensive plans right across the South Coast, with over 1,000 homes set to be built over multiple sites. Their most significant development is North Poole, where 695 new homes, a 60 bed care home local centre and suitable alternative green space will be developed. Sarah will give more intel on these sites and how to get involved in them. Brighton & Hove City Council – Nick Hibberd, Executive Director Economy, Environment & Culture One of the UK’s most active councils on the development front, Brighton and Hove City council are involved as lead developers or enablers in 9 major schemes. As part of this event Nick will set out the council’s build back better ambitions, in particular highlighting their drive towards net zero, their ambitions to deliver 1000 homes in the city, to reimagine their town centre and drive tourism through development. MHA London – Andi Kercini, Head of Development MHA are continuing their investment on the south coast with their latest scheme in Poole. The project will see the construction of 228 flats in three blocks next to a 118-bed boutique hotel with rooftop restaurant and bar which will embrace the heritage of the site and create a prime cultural, commercial and residential destination in the heart of Poole. Andi will reveal more intel on the scheme and how to get involved. NewRiver – Justin Thomas, Director of Development NewRiver are playing a prominent role in the regeneration of the Sovereign shopping centre in Boscombe alongside BCP Council. The wider town centre redevelopment will see 560 new homes, 6,700sqm of retail and leisure floor space and 4,800 sqm of commercial, community and health floor space created in what has been described as a “rare opportunity to secure the major investment Boscombe needs”. Justin will be revealing more details about the scheme. Sustrans – Megan Streb, Partnership Manager, England South One of the UK’s leading voices on developing green infrastructure and regular TED Talk contributor, Megan will be talking about how Sustrans are collaborating with a number of developers and local authorities across the South Coast to ensure green walking and cycling infrastructure features heavily across a number of the region’s game changing developments while unveiling her organisation’s future strategy.
