This virtual event will delve into the development, investment and regeneration opportunities and proposed projects across Leeds.

With Leeds city centre set to double in size, regeneration and residential ambitions that will see thousands of jobs created and thousands of home built as well as major infrastructure schemes such as HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail set to enhance the city’s connectivity, 2021 is set to be an exciting year for the city. • Leeds City Council – Leeds City Council are currently investing tens of millions of pounds in infrastructure upgrades to the city centre to increase connectivity as well as help the city reduce congestion and reach its sustainability targets. The council is also heavily investing in flood storage with other £100 million worth of work currently in motion or in the pipeline. Cllr Helen Hayden will join the session to speak about these plans for the city as well as looking head to the council’s future infrastructure and transport plans.

• Yorkshire Water – Yorkshire Water have extensive plans to redevelop and repurpose the historic buildings that make up their estate including the creation of a flagship centre of excellence for learning and wellbeing which will provide a venue for Yorkshire Water’s new training academy for colleagues and the wider water industry. Roisin will go into more detail on these schemes as well as providing intel on Yorkshire Water’s wider development plans for their land and property portfolio.

• Get Living – Get Living recently announced major plans to build nearly 800 flats on an “eyesore” former industrial site near Leeds city centre. The £177 million scheme will see flats spread across eight buildings of between eight and twenty three floors in height and the development will include commercial units. John will join this session to give more intel on this scheme and showcase their vision for this site which has been left derelict for a number of years.

• Ward Hadaway – Jonathan Dickson is a partner who specialises in all aspects of non-contentious commercial real estate and regularly advises in the investment, regeneration, development  and landlord/tenant, sectors. In particular Jonathan specialises in the following:
• Investment work and regularly advises investment funds and private investors on the acquisition and disposal of industrial, office, retails and mixed use schemes.
• The acquisition of development land whether by way of option agreements, promotion agreements, conditional sale agreements.
• Disposal of development land and projects often incorporating deferred payments and complex overage and clawback arrangements.
• Joint venture and collaboration arrangements for all forms of development and regeneration work with a particular emphasis on arrangements for the protection of the public realm and strategic open space.
• Infrastructure and utility aspects of large scale development projects from the perspective of the landowner whose land the infrastructure and utilities need to be accessed over.
• Landlord and tenant work – Jonathan frequently advises both landlords and tenants on this type of work. This means that he is able to see both sides and perspectives during negotiations and uses this to achieve a sensible solution on each transaction.
• Negotiating telecommunication agreements for land owners.
